I consider curiosity as a force deep inside human nature. It’s what moves us to do awesome things and helped us to become who we are, to get better in human history and is an ability that you should always write down in your resume when looking for a job. It’s actually an ability not particular of humanity as most animals have some level of curiosity but what makes us special is that we can apply it and acquire knowledge from it.

But this awesome ability has us doing utterly unproductive things like reading or watching the news about people we will never meet, learning topics we will never have use for, or exploring places we will never come back to. We just love to answer those questions in our minds, even if there’s no obvious benefit in it.
Moreover, nowadays these marketing guys have learned a bit about this flaw in us. They train themselves to write and show images (Yep, memes) that take our attention in seconds which is called copywriting (an important skill to learn) and they use it to trigger that curiosity inside you and take you to a website, profile or trap you into a sell offer.

The thing about curiosity is that it moves you to an uncomfortable place, we will call it “the novice podium” and is more common when you get your nose into something that you find interesting. This can be anything, a skill, profession or just knowledge but it has to be something that not only gives you instant gratification, like watching a fails video in Youtube or the stories on your Instagram, but it has a level of difficulty and it has a learning curve that grows with time.
For some people, this is the way they find their passion or their significant other, but for most is just another knowledge or item that you might not use in the future.
Now, what can you do with this information now stuck in your brain?
Well, you can just leave it there, maybe forget it with time or…. you can teach and create awesome content with it.
Why is it so awesome then? Wouldn’t you prefer to acquire knowledge from an expert in the field or a verified article?
According to these amazing guys from the hustle, a curious novice is really important as is always just one step above the average reader so the abyss that is often created from an expert point of view to the novice that is reading becomes a stair step and it makes it seem more likely to achieve that thing that your curiosity led you to find.
So, be curious, and don’t worry about being a curious novice. One day you’ll be the expert, but right now enjoy those things where your curiosity takes you.

Considero la curiosidad como una fuerza grabada profundamente dentro de la naturaleza humana. Es lo que nos mueve a hacer cosas increíbles y nos ayudó a convertirnos en lo que somos, a mejorar en la historia de la humanidad y ademas, es una habilidad que siempre deben escribir en su currículum cuando esten buscando trabajo. En realidad, es una habilidad que no es particular de la humanidad, ya que la mayoría de los animales tienen cierto nivel de curiosidad, pero lo que nos hace especiales es que nosotros podemos aplicarla y adquirir conocimiento de ella.

Pero esta increíble habilidad nos hace hacer cosas totalmente improductivas como leer o mirar noticias de personas que nunca conoceremos, aprender temas para los que nunca tendremos uso o explorar lugares a los que nunca volveremos. Nos encanta responder esas preguntas en nuestras mentes, incluso si no hay ningún beneficio obvio en ello.
Además, hoy en día los especialistas en marketing han aprendido un poco sobre este defecto en nosotros. Se entrenan para escribir y mostrar imágenes (Sí, memes) que llaman nuestra atención en segundos, lo que se llama redacción publicitaria (una habilidad importante para aprender) y lo usan para activar esa curiosidad dentro de cada uno y llevarnos a un sitio web, perfil o trampa publicitaria para presentarle una oferta de venta.
El lado luminoso de la fuerza.
Lo que pasa con la curiosidad es que te lleva a un lugar incómodo, lo llamaremos “el podio de los novatos” y es común cuando encuentras algo que te parece interesante. Esto puede ser cualquier cosa, una habilidad, profesión o simplemente conocimiento nuevo, pero tiene que ser algo que no solo te brinde gratificación instantánea, como ver un video de fails en Youtube o las historias en tu Instagram, sino que tenga un nivel de dificultad y una curva de aprendizaje que crece con el tiempo.
Para algunas personas, esta es la forma en que encuentran su pasión o incluso su otra naranja, pero para la mayoría es solo otro conocimiento o elemento que podría no utilizar en el futuro.
Ahora, ¿qué puedes hacer con esta información ahora atrapada en tu cerebro? Bueno, puedes dejarlo ahi, quizás olvidarlo con el tiempo o … puedes enseñar y crear contenido increíble con él.
¿Por qué es tan asombroso? ¿No preferiría cualquiera adquirir conocimiento de un experto en el campo o un artículo verificado?
De acuerdo con estas increíbles personas de “the hustle”, un principiante curioso es realmente importante, ya que siempre está un paso por encima del lector promedio, por lo que el abismo que a menudo se crea desde un punto de vista experto para el novato que está leyendo se convierte en un simple escalón y hace que parezca más probable lograr lo que la curiosidad te llevó a encontrar.
Por lo tanto, activa tu curiosidad y no te preocupes por ser un novato curioso. Algún día serás el experto, pero hoy disfruta de esas cosas a las que te lleva tu curiosidad.
